MAS200 SQL Conversion Utility

Using the MAS200 SQL Conversion Utility
Prior to installing the SQL Converter, obtain the MAS90 for Windows or MAS200
Client / Server installation CDs.  Install a fresh copy of MAS (90 or 200) into
a new folder the same server that your MAS200/SQL server is on. This step is
required since several of the MAS system tables are not defined (or incorrectly
defined) in the Data Dictionary, but are created correctly by the installation
process.  Your data will transfer correctly into these files.
The SQL Converter is typically installed manually into the MAS200/SQL system
by copying the installation folder directly into the \MAS90\ main folder.
Use the SUMNUA Menu System Utility to add the program DXWSQL to the S/A
application on the UTI menu.  This is done to ensure that the converter
will not interfere with any Extended Solutions or Master Developer enhancements
to the Library Master module.
Ensure that you have exclusive use of the MAS200/SQL system for the duration
of the conversion.  Benchmark conversions on typical systems with a few
years of historical data have run in approximately one hour on newer servers.
Your actual conversion time may vary, and you can expect to run the conversion
into a parallel system for testing and evaluation before converting all users
over to the new system.
To run the conversion, launch "S Q L Server Data Conversion" from the L/M Utilities
menu.
When the program opens, it reads the current Data Dictionary into a workfile
for faster runtime processing.
Enter the Destination folder, where the fresh MAS (90 or 200) is installed,
optionally select a single application module to convert (the default is
to convert all modules) then click [Proceed].
The Converter will now create new native file system data files and populate
them from your SQL tables for the current MAS90 company.  You may repeat
running the Converter for each MAS90 Company Code database you want to convert.
Diagnostic messages may appear to inform you of exceptions or errors in the
Data Dictionary definitions.  Most temporary tables are not defined for
every possible program usage, and will not convert; but these tables are
erased and re-defined at each use for the specific programs which use them.
When this occurs, a message pops up, and you may click [Skip] to
ignore the table and continue to the next one.
Your MAS90 reseller or master developer will assist you in transferring
your custom reports.  New or modified data tables from Extended Solutions
and Master Developer enhancements will convert correctly as long as they are
defined properly in the MAS90 Data Dictionary.
The suggested list price of this utility is $1195, and includes technical
support time from me to insure that any problems with the conversion, which
are usually related to incorrect Data Dictionary entries, are identified
and resolved.
